The market value of the painting is $1,800. Winner will be pulled on August 30, 2024. You do not need to be present to win. If $3,500 goal is not met, a 50/50 raffle will take place.

Gilda Snowden was a renowned Detroit Artist and a close friend of the Rep. She curated our, now aptly named, Gilda Snowden Lobby Gallery.

Gilda was born in Detroit. She attended Cass Tech High School with a focus on fashion design.

She earned her earned her BFA degree in Advertising Design and Painting in 1977 and her MFA degree in Painting in 1979 from Wayne State University. At Wayne State, she was heavily influenced by the Cass Corridor art movement and studied with artist John Egner.

She was married to William "Bill" Boswell, an actor and director here at the Detroit Rep.

Gilda’s works are predominately abstracts with vivid colors. She was regularly inspired by the city of Detroit and its citizens.
